Billing Information

Madison County Emergency Medical District contracts with The AccuMed Group for medical billing. All billing reflects our cost of providing progressive, advanced emergency medical care.


We have adopted industry standard billing practices that we believe balance the need for acute emergency care, and fair reimbursement for services rendered.

If bills become past due, and no attempts to work with AccuMed Group are made, bills for out-of-District residents are sent to Choice Recovery for collections.

If your bill has become past due, and you have received notice from our collections agency, you can contact them at 1 (800) 559-9277 or through their office at 1550 Old Henderson Road, Suite 100, Columbus, Ohio 43220.

Billing FAQ

  • Why do you bill for services when I already pay taxes? Madison County EMD is funded through property tax levies within Deercreek, Monroe, Oak Run, Paint, Somerford, and Union Townships. This funding alone cannot sustain progressive, advanced emergency medical care within the community. The District uses patient care billing to supplement the high cost of providing 24/7 EMS care. Madison County EMD does not receive any money from the county's General Fund, as we are our own independent ambulance district.
  • Do you accept Medicare or my private health insurance provider? Medicare is an accepted provider of insurance for users of our EMS system. If you are concerned if you private health insurance providers allows for EMS transport, please contact AccuMed at 1 (888) 330-5405 and they will be able to verify whether you will have to pay any, part or all of your EMS Bill.
  • Do you charge for non-transports? Madison County EMD does not charge for non-transports unless the patient requires ALS Level 2 care defined by the State of Ohio. If you call 911 and assistance was all the EMTs provided, then you will receive no bill (i.e. car accidents, non-injury lift assists, blood sugar checks, etc.).
  • Can I dispute the charges or inquire about my bill? All disputes or inquiries can be made to AccuMed Group at 1 (888) 330-5405. Please do not call any of the District phone numbers, as EMTs and paramedics will not be able to assist you with understanding or altering your bill.
  • My account has been turned over to collections, can I resolve this? If a bill has become past due, and no good-faith attempt has been made to rectify this on behalf of the patient, the District reserves the right to turn out-of-District residents bill over to collections.
